    Programs

    UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

    • The University offers full time B.Tech. / B.Tech. (Lateral Entry) program in various disciplines of Engineering and Technology, B.B.A., BS-MS, B.Tech-Biotechnology and B.Pharm.
    • Admission to these programs shall be made as per the rules prescribed by the University from time to time.
    • B.Tech. / B.Tech. (Lateral Entry) programs is offered in Chemical Technology (Biochemical Engineering), Chemical Technology (Food Technology), Chemical Technology (Leather Technology), Chemical Technology (Oil Technology), Chemical Technology (Plastic Technology), Chemical Technology (Paint Technology), Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, , Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering.
    • The admissions in B.Tech. and BS-MS programs shall be made on the basis of merit of the candidate in JEE (Mains).
    • The admission of students in the B.Tech. (Biotechnology), BS-MS, BBA and B.Pharm. program shall be made on the basis of merit of CUET (UG).

    POSTGRADUATE COURSES

    • The University offers full time Master of Computer Application (MCA), Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.), Master of Technology (Tech.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree programs.
    • The reservation policy shall be governed by U.P. State Government or as prescribed by the University from time to time.

    MCA Program

    • University offers two years Master of Computer Applications Degree program.
    • The admissions to MCA program will be made strictly on merit of CUET (PG)-2024 (Paper Code SCQP09).

    M.B.A. Program

    • University offers two years Master of Business Administration Degree program.
    • The admission to MBA program shall be based on valid scores in CAT 2023/AIMA-MAT-2023-24/CUET-PG 2024 and performance in group discussions and personal interview (GD & PI). 

    M.Tech. Programme:

    • The University provides M.Tech. Degree program (full-time) in various disciplines of Engineering and Technology. The School of Engineering, H.B.T.U Kanpur offers specialization in Computer Aided Design, Environmental Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Power Electronics and Control, Computer Science and Engineering. The School of Chemical Technology offers specialization in Chemical Technology – Oil Technology, Chemical Technology – Food Technology, Chemical Technology – Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy and Environment, Chemical Technology – Paint Technology, Chemical Technology – Plastic Technology.
    • Admission to M.Tech. programs shall be based on the rules established by the University from time to time.
    • The admission to M. Tech. program will be carried out strictly on the merit of the candidate in accordance with the valid GATE score and CUET (PG)-2024 score. The candidates with the valid GATE score will be given preference over the candidate with CUET(PG)-2024 score. If any seats remain vacant afterwards, the admission will be made through University Entrance Test-2024 (UET-2024).

    M.Sc. Programme:

    • The University provides M.Sc. Degree program (full-time) in various disciplines of Engineering and Technology. The School of Basic & Applied Sciences, H.B.T.U Kanpur offers specialization in M.Sc. in Physics (Specialization in Material Science and Nanotechnology), M.Sc. in Chemistry, M.Sc. in Mathematics and Data Science.
    • The admission to M. Sc. program will be carried out strictly on the merit of the candidate in accordance with the valid IIT JAM – 2024, CUET (PG)-2024 score. However, the candidates with valid JAM score will be given preference for admission followed by CUET (PG)-2024 qualified candidates. If any seats remain vacant afterwards, the admission will be made through University Entrance Test-2024 (UET-2024).

    Ph.D. PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY THE UNIVERSITY

    A) FULL TIME

    A research scholar in this category works full-time to pursue his / her Ph.D. He / she will be eligible to receive Assistantship / Scholarship from the University, or any other recognized funding agency as per the rules. In case of non-availability of financial assistance, the candidate shall have to meet the expenditure of doing research work on his / her own. The grant of financial assistance from any source does not entitle the candidate exemption from tuition fee and other prescribed fee of the University unless such exemption is specifically granted in the assistance scheme and the fee as applicable are provided to the University by the agency extending financial support to the candidate.

    B) SPONSORED

    A research scholar in this category is sponsored by a recognized R&D organization, academic institution, government organization, research laboratory or industry for pursuing Ph.D. in the University on full-time basis. Such students will be required to submit a Sponsorship Certificate from their respective organization along with their GPF / CPF contribution proof. The University shall not provide any assistantship / scholarship to such research scholars and all the applicable University fee and expenditure for pursuing research work shall be remitted by the sponsoring organization to the University. Research Scholars under this scheme shall be treated as full-time students.

    C) PART-TIME

    A candidate working at a research centre recognized by the University, regular / contractual faculty members of this University / employees working in Govt. / Govt. aided / Private Engineering Colleges / Universities / Industries / Public sector organizations shall be considered for the admission under this category if their Organization is situated within 100 km distance from HBTU Kanpur. All such candidates have to submit No-Objection Certificate from their employs at the time of interview.

    Eligible faculty / staff members of the University shall be treated as Part-Time students.

    D) QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (QIP)

    QIP provides opportunities to faculty members of the degree awarding Engineering Institutions to improve their qualifications by admitting them to Ph.D. programmes as per the rules prescribed in the QIP scheme of MHRD, Govt. of India. Research Scholars under this scheme shall be treated as full time students.
